Epcems is a tool available to Law Enforcement Personnel which will assist them in knowing laws and regulations which are specific to an area or a specific point, and associated with a time frame. Epcems was originally developed for the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife to assist Conservation Officers with the regulations associated with hunting and fishing. For example, New Jersey has many deer management zones to try to manage the state's deer herd. Each deer management zone ( DMZ ) could have its own set of regulations for each of the six different deer hunting seasons each year. Epcems finds the location of the Conservation Officer's vehicle using a GPS and finds what DMZ the vehicle is in and then looks up the regulations that apply to that DMZ based on the date and time. New Jersey has eight other types of hunting zones and the same type of regulation look up is done for each of those.
